Brand Introduction|Okinawa Cerrado Coffee

A craft coffee roastery from Urasoe, Okinawa—bringing professional techniques into everyday life

Founded in 1986, Okinawa Cerrado Coffee began as a local wholesale supplier focused on providing beans to cafes and restaurants. The name “Cerrado” comes from the Brazilian savannah region, a nod to the founder’s family history of investing in Brazilian coffee farms.
The toucan in the logo reflects this Brazilian connection—it is the national bird of Brazil.

In 2015, under the leadership of second-generation roaster Narihito Sueyoshi, the brand entered the retail market and opened Beans Store. With in-house roasting and a curated global bean lineup, the store makes expert coffee part of Okinawan daily life.
The brand also operates its own farm in Okinawa, releasing a limited batch of local beans each year—realizing its seed-to-cup philosophy.

Brand motto:

“With just a little technique, coffee can become wonderfully delicious.”
Warmth, simplicity, and memorability—this is the flavor Okinawa Cerrado Coffee hopes to bring into every moment of your day.

Roaster Profile|Narihito Sueyoshi

Local roasting artisan, second-generation head of Okinawa Cerrado Coffee

Born in Urasoe City, Okinawa, Narihito Sueyoshi grew up among burlap sacks and roasting machines, instinctively attuned to the scent and rhythm of coffee.
After graduating from high school, he moved to Osaka to pursue street dance and DJ culture. At the age of 30, he returned to Okinawa to take over his family’s coffee business, which had already spanned over three decades.

In 2015, he renovated the storefront and founded what is now known as “Beans Store”—transforming what was once a wholesale roasting factory into a space where coffee and everyday life could meet.
Now, with nearly a decade of roasting experience, he selects every bean by hand, roasts it himself, and personally greets every customer who walks through the door.

▸ Background & Transformation
・Second-generation successor to a family-run coffee bean supplier established in 1986
・Opened the retail roasting shop “Beans Store” in 2015
・Started managing a local coffee farm in 2010, promoting Okinawan-grown beans

▸ His Philosophy

“Coffee is something that gives people energy. I want my store to send people out the door smiling.”
Sueyoshi believes coffee is more than flavor and technique—it’s daily encouragement and quiet support. His goal is to make professional-grade coffee feel warm, approachable, and worth sharing.
