Founded in 2012 in Okinawa, “Porepore” comes from the Ethiopian language, meaning “slowly and peacefully.”
Founder Yoshiyuki Nakamura believes that since coffee originated in Africa, the act of drinking it should also return to that rhythm—unhurried, aromatic, and mindful.
At MAME POREPORE, nature is the ultimate teacher. Every coffee bean is roasted with respect for its terroir and post-harvest process, allowing its origin and personality to shine.
Their philosophy is simple yet profound:
"Coffee is a gift from nature. What we do is to bring out that gift at its best."
Gentle, balanced, and memorable—that’s what every cup from MAME POREPORE aims to be.
Born in Okinawa City, Nakamura’s journey into the world of coffee began with a single cup of Vietnamese coffee during his travels across Asia.
In 2012, he founded MAME POREPORE, and since 2017, he has gained recognition as one of Japan’s top roasters, winning multiple national and international roasting competitions.

“Roasting is not about control—it's about dialogue.”
