A “life-centered” coffee brand from Kyoto, reminding everyone to be the protagonist of their own story

ABOUT US COFFEE is a specialty coffee roaster based in Kyoto. The name “US” represents the connection between everyone involved in the coffee journey—from producers and roasters to the people who enjoy each cup. It’s not just a story about coffee, but about the people behind it.

The founder chose “US” over “ME” to convey a broader message: that the world isn’t preset—it’s something you build for yourself. Through coffee, he hopes to remind people that “life only happens once,” and it should be lived in your own way.

Roaster｜Yasunari Sawanoi

World-class champion barista, founder of ABOUT US COFFEE

Yasunari Sawanoi is a Kyoto-based coffee artisan with a CQI-certified Q Grader license. He won the 2022 Coffee Collection World Discover championship and has served as a judge for multiple Japan Barista Championships.

Through ABOUT US COFFEE, he seeks not only to perfect flavor, but to communicate a life philosophy. He believes that good coffee is more than a tasting experience—it can inspire people to reimagine their path and choose how to live.
